We bring clarity and professionalism to every engagement, ensuring clients understand their obligations and the practical steps required to achieve compliant, well‑executed outcomes.
Our team’s expertise is grounded in a deep understanding of Victoria’s regulatory framework and long‑standing working relationships with local councils and industry partners. That experience enables us to assess risk accurately, interpret complex technical requirements, and provide pragmatic guidance that aligns with project objectives. We maintain professional independence and rigorous quality standards so clients can rely on our judgements and documentation at every stage.
Being client‑focused means we prioritise clear communication, responsiveness, and tailored support. We listen to project goals, anticipate potential compliance challenges, and present solutions in plain language so builders, designers, and homeowners can make informed decisions. Our approach reduces uncertainty, minimises delays, and helps keep projects on schedule and on budget.
Clients who engage us benefit from reduced project risk and greater certainty. Early identification of issues, practical remediation strategies, and consistent documentation help avoid costly rework and unexpected setbacks. Our practical, solutions‑oriented approach ensures smoother project delivery and safeguards our clients’ investments.
We also channel our expertise and resources into initiatives that strengthen our region. Supporting the next generation is a core part of our community commitment. We founded and operate a youth development initiative and actively assist other local youth programs and charities through long‑term partnerships, direct support, and hands‑on volunteering. Our work focuses on initiatives that empower young people with practical skills, mentoring and confidence‑building opportunities – programs that deliver measurable outcomes in employability, resilience and personal development. By investing time and resources where they make a real difference, we help reduce disadvantage, strengthen social connections and encourage active participation in community life. In doing so we aim to create a more inclusive, capable and connected region – one where young people are better equipped to realise their potential and contribute to the communities we serve.
If you value a technically rigorous, client‑centred partner with local experience and a strong community ethic, our practice is ready to support your project with dependable advice and expert guidance.

Principal & Founder
Nikki is a client‑focused registered building surveyor who leads Hornsby Building Surveyors with technical rigour, practical judgement and a strong commitment to client outcomes. As principal and founder, she combines deep regulatory knowledge with hands‑on experience to deliver clear, dependable advice across Victoria’s building compliance landscape.
As a proud second-generation building surveyor, Nikki takes great pride in upholding her family's legacy in the profession. Nikki’s professional formation began after graduating from university when she joined her family’s private certifying business in Sydney. During those formative years, she gained a well-rounded, multifaceted skill set in a dynamic, hands-on environment. From coordinating client applications and undertaking complex assessment work to attending rigorous building inspections and managing business operations, Nikki gained an 'all-access' understanding of what it truly takes to be both an exceptional building certifier and a successful business owner.
Following a strategic relocation to Melbourne, Nikki advanced her career by successfully completing her specialised postgraduate studies in Building Surveying. To build a robust, authoritative understanding of the local landscape, she intentionally forged her compliance career across a diverse mix of large and medium-sized private surveying firms, local municipal councils, and state government organisations.
Nikki holds registration with the Victorian Building Authority and is recognised for her specialist knowledge of Victorian regulation and the intricacies of local compliance. Her depth of expertise has made her a highly sought-after advisor within the construction industry, trusted by clients to navigate the most complex compliance matters with precision.
Nikki’s vision for Hornsby Building Surveyors extends far beyond compliance; it is deeply rooted in social purpose. Growing up in a family committed to volunteering and community service in Sydney, she developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of support and opportunity. As a strong advocate for underprivileged, disadvantaged, and at-risk youth, Nikki actively channels her time, resources, and leadership into initiatives that create lasting change.
By supporting programs that address disadvantage, build resilience, and encourage active community participation, Nikki hopes to foster a more inclusive, capable, and connected region – one where young individuals are empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully.
Hornsby Building Surveyors was established both as an homage to Nikki’s family roots and as the vehicle for her own progressive vision of a building compliance practice.
At the core of her practice is an unwavering commitment to technical excellence and a distinct, client-focused approach. Nikki understands that behind every building permit is a client looking for clarity, reliability, and strategic guidance.
Today, Nikki leads her Melbourne-based practice with the same dedication, integrity, and community-minded spirit that has defined her career from the very beginning.
